I’m excited to announce a new podcast project today!
This one is a bit personal to me, as it’s a project I’ve been mulling over, off and on, for like half a decade now.
So I’d like to introduce you all to “Dave’s Itty Bitty Dilly Dally,” a storytelling podcast with no set release schedule, the absolute minimum amount of post-production possible, and honestly – zero fucks given about any demographics or audience. (You can also tell I liked the name of my old general topic podcast too much to see it wasted!)
The idea behind this project is to create a bit of a catalogue or library of my father’s stories. Dave McRae, of Ax Men Season 8 fame, and also my 63 year old dad, is joining me as my cohost to make sure we chronicle as much of his interesting life as we can before he kicks it. And trust me, he’s a clever old bastard with a very interesting life! While I’m intending it to be primarily a personal family legacy project, hence the complete disregard for any audience, we’re still going to release it out to the world for the sake of education as an uncensored explicit 18+ (for swearing and any gore) podcast. That means zero pre-planning outside of a single topic. We’ll use each topic to roughly keep us on track in our ADHD/Spectrum style storytelling – meandering through the hour-ish we’ve blocked out for each episode.
We’re happy with how Episode 1 came out, which is all about animals and animal stories. We did record video and audio simultaneously, but I’ll likely only post the former to my Youtube if there’s demand for it. (Although I’m sure Dave will be pleased with knowing people can see him using a bulk package of toilet paper as a makeshift ottoman cramped in my tiny office together. He’s a great in the moment problem solver, of course.)
