Nay,
Think of the worst things,
Your most terrifying nightmares.
Worse than that.
I’ve been cursed,
A thousand times.
Across lifetimes,
And millennia.
An ephemeral thing,
In that the darkest evils,
Are rarely concerned –
With the plights of most mortals.
Comprehension –
Of most cryptids,
Drives mortals mad.
It is as constant as breathing.
An immutable law of the universe.
The man cries foul,
At the volcano –
The drought –
The earthquakes.
Why must we always bear your curses?
Oftentimes,
We’re trying to save you –
From yourselves.
