Knucklebone hardships,
Ode to shattered noses.
The devil you know,
The devil you are.
Fisticuffs crisscrossed by drop kicks.
Hockey stick bruises.
We lived by the law of the Eightfold Punishment,
An eye for an eye,
Magnified to apocalypse.
Global.
Thermal.
Nuclear.
War.
Wars with no victors,
Back and forth battles –
Taking everything from them.
While they take everything from you in return.
Scattered across a broken home,
Carnage tantrums.
Redrum legacies.
The demons unleashed,
Violence and bloodshed.
We only knew hatred.
Desolation.
Hurt.
Sibling rivalries,
Escalated to brutal slugfests.
Broken bone symphonies.
Screaming match cacophonies.
Peace was a foreign word,
An addiction to force.
Cruelty beyond cruelty,
Suffering beyond suffering.
How many scars gifted unto the other?
Bruises?
Nightmares.
Raven,
Hawk.
Primal laws.
Evil methods.
Fallow plains of wheat,
Stretching onwards into the horizon.
There could be nothing else.
No other way.
Until we drowned in our anger,
Asphyxiated in the loneliness.
No heroes.
No saviors.
Just broken little monsters,
Loosed into the world.
